MATCH REPORT - SAT 9 MAY

Waverton 8 : 3 Upton

Waverton U7 Development Squad took up the challenge of their first ever match with another club and came away from Upton victorious having won 8-3 !

So impressed to see the squad turn up in torrential rain for the practise match the night before on a very soggy pitch. Well it was definitely worth it!!

After a shaky start having let a goal in within the first 3 minutes, the boys fought back with a lovely goal from Oscar and then another from Theo gave Waverton the lead. With Waverton displaying some great teamwork and a solid defence Upton found it hard to break through and soon the score was 6-2 to Waverton.

There were several good shots on Upton’s goal in the 3rd quarter but their keeper brilliantly kept them all out. One more goal from each in fourth quarter sealed the result at 8-3 to Waverton.

When the final whistle blew we were proud to see Waverton players shake hands nicely with the other team. Well done to all players - great team effort and a lot of fun.

Thanks to Adam and Thomas who did a great job organising substitutions and rotating the player’s positions on the pitch.
